The Lord is Close

God is close even when it doesn't feel like He's there. That means even when we make mistakes, even when we forget to pray, even when we're busy. I have not been reading the Bible enough. My heart has been longing for it, but then I allow myself to get distracted and fill my time with something else. This week I couldn't stand it anymore...I had to fill myself with what I've been missing--God. The Bible. I didn't know where to start, really. So I went to the Psalms. I read Psalm 63 and Psalm 139. And then I started thinking
about how God put that desire in me--that desire for Him, for His Word, for a deeper relationship with Him. And that's how I know that He's close. He's close because He knows us. He made us, created us, formed us. Knows our thoughts, longings, desires. He's not just near to us, even though He's that, too. He's close. Right next to us, all the time. He has said that He'll never leave us or forsake us. Which means He's always there. I love that. God is always pursuing us, never giving up on us. Just waiting for us to take advantage of His closeness and let Him in.

I Became Ariel at a Jack in the Box

So we stopped at this Jack in the Crack in a place called Santa Nella, CA. We went there for lunch. As we were eating, people kept coming out of the bathrooms and laughing. We weren't quite sure why. When we were done eating we went to use the restroom before we hit the road again. Inside, there were 3 stalls. Above each one was a unique painting. One said Ariel, one said Pocahontas, and one said Cinderella. Of course I HAD to be Ariel, I mean I do have red hair and white skin and all. Plus I swim, even if it isn't under the sea, it's close enough. So I chose to go in the one that said Ariel. My sister wanted to be Pocahontas, which left no choice for my mom except to be Cinderella, which she happily obliged to, even though she does not have blonde hair.
