So I was at NCU the other day for choir practice and had the opportunity to see some campus secrets. If you've heard of postsecret.org you know the project--people send in secrets from all over and this guy posts them online. NCU did a similar thing. It was amazing to see all the different secrets people have. Many of them reveal some pretty deep stuff about the person. Others are just fun and make you smile. But most of them are serious, and stem from somewhere deep within that person. It makes you go, wow...I'm not alone. I mean, it's one thing to have a secret...it's another thing to share it...and another thing to read it. Something about that context of community...that we're all in this together, and we all have hopes, dreams, fears, and stuff we deal with. I thought I'd show some pictures and some of what people posted. It's powerful.
Oh yeah, and my friend Mary DeMuth has a new book coming out soon called Daisy Chain, and in it, many characters harbor secrets. Mary set up a blog where people send in their family secrets. It's really interesting. Check it out here: http://blog.myfamilysecrets.org/
